We are looking for Forty-Five [45] highly motivated, passionate, and skilled skateboarders, who aspire to compete with the best. This will consist of Three [3] Contestants representing each of our current Fifteen [15] participating Nations, 2 Men & 1 Woman per Nation.

Selected participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their talent and commitment through a rigorous competition process that will help shape the future of skateboarding in Africa.

COMMITEMENT AND COST

All travel, feeding and accommodation expenses, excluding passport and visa acquisition will be covered by NOLULOPE Limited.

PRIZES

There will be 1 Winner each in both Men and Women categories, according to the following;

• 1st Prize: $2,000

• 2nd Prize: $1,000

• 3rd Prize: $500

• 4th Prize: $250

• 5th Prize: $125

There will also be Prizes from our various sponsors, as such, most unique/creative trick, best style/execution of a trick, and best combination trick, amongst others.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Skateboarders wishing to apply for this opportunity must meet the following essential criteria:

• Must be 18 years or older, or turned 18 before application close date.

• Must hold citizenship and a valid passport from one of our participating Nations. Click Here to view Nations.

APPLICATION PROCESS

This consists of Two [2] parts, '“Registration” and “Video Upload”; 

PART 1 - REGISTRATION [Closes July 1st, 2025]

SUBMIT your personal details, answer the training, coaching, competition history, and goal-setting questions. Contestants must use their real names and may be asked to provide further proof of identity, age, or residency. [This is different from your final application which includes your REGISTRATION + VIDEO UPLOADS]

PART 2 - VIDEO UPLOAD [Closes August 31st, 2025]

Submit 5 unedited videos (outlined below) demonstrating your ability to compete with the Africa's best street skateboarders;

1. Video 1: Your first 45-second competition-style run.

2. Video 2: Your second 45-second competition-style run, with NOTABLE VARIATIONS from your first run.

3. Video 3: Best trick 1.

4. Video 4: Best trick 2.

5. Video 5: Best trick 3.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

• Your two 45-second runs and three best tricks should be performed at a skate park or parks of your choosing.

• You may use the same skate park for all submissions or different parks to showcase a variety of obstacles.

• Your two 45-second runs should display NOTABLE VARIATIONS, which may include:

1. Different tricks

2. Different obstacles

3. A safety run and a high-risk final run

• Your three [3] best trick submissions must feature different tricks and should not repeat any tricks included in your 45-second runs.

• Videos must consist of the performance by the Contestant of tricks or manoeuvres on a skateboard in 2025.

• Video must be filmed in horizontal format on a camera or phone.

• Video must not contain any music or have been edited.

• Video must include LITTLE to NO other individuals other than Contestant.

• Videos must not contain watermarks.

• Video must not be of poor visual and/or audio quality.

• Submission must be original.

• ALL SUBMISSIONS must be lodged via Contestant’s authenticated Instagram account, using a SINGLE CAROSEL POST, tagging @NLPSKATE and using #MyNLPSubmission. PLEASE ensure to use ONE POST ONLY, as it is…

• ONE SUBMISSION per person, so you can take time to perfect your craft. 

• DUPLICATED or/and AUTOMATED entries are prohibited and will be disqualified.

SUBMISSION RESTRICTIONS

1. Submission must not contain material that violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement.

2. Submission must not contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media or musical material) without written permission.

3. Submission must not contain unsportsmanlike conduct, extraordinarily dangerous acts, or reckless acts.

4. Submission must not contain or in any way depict any injuries and/or crashes of the Contestant.

5. Submission must not disparage NLP or any other person or party affiliated with the Competition.

6. Submission must not contain material that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous, libellous or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate as determined by NLP in its sole discretion.

7. Submission cannot defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about people, brands, products or companies.

8. Submission cannot contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.

9. Submission cannot communicate messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or goodwill to which NLP wishes to associate.

10. Submission must not depict products or brands competitive with those of SLS, as determined by NLP in its sole discretion.

11. Submission cannot depict illegal activity and cannot itself be in violation of any law.

SELECTION & JUDGING CRITERIA

Selections will be made in accordance with the NLP's Skateboard Performance Committee’s Selection Policy guidelines.

A panel of professional skateboarding experts will judge submissions based on:

1. Trick Difficulty & Originality: 50%

2. Performance & Style: 25%

3. Spot & Obstacle: 25%

The Judging Panel will decide the winners at their sole discretion. THE DECISIONS OF THE JUDGING PANEL ARE FINAL AND BINDING AS TO ALL CONTESTANTS.

LIABILITY WAIVER

Contestants acknowledge the risks associated with skateboarding and release the Promoter from liability for any injuries, damages, or losses.

RIGHTS & PUBLICITY

Contestants grant NLP the right to use their name, likeness, and video submission for promotional purposes worldwide, without additional compensation.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

The Promoter reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Competition in the event of unforeseen circumstances or rule violations.
